This seven-week course will grapple with a range of important public policies currently in the national dialogue including health care, states’ rights and immigration, media, water and toxics, foreign policy, and incarceration reform. Guest speakers from the private and public sector will address these topics and engage students in conversations around changing policy. Students will be expected to attend each session and write responses to each of the dialogues. In addition to the topics outlined, the course will examine the workings of local, state and federal governments with the overarching goal of preparing students to work effectively in our political systems and institutions.
