Multivariable Calculus and Electromagnetism (MAT4132.01)

Andrew McIntyre

This course covers the standard topics in multivariable calculus, including derivatives as linear transformations, Lagrange multipliers, and vector derivatives div, grad, and curl. It is organized towards applications in electromagnetism, and in particular towards developing Maxwell’s equations, in both their classical vector form and their modern expression in differential forms. However, no experience with (or, indeed, interest in) physics will be assumed.

Prerequisites: Linear Algebra, and either prior university calculus or permission of the instructor.
