Michael Dumanis

This two-credit course involves working on the editing, promotion, and production of Bennington’s newly relaunched national print literary magazine, Bennington Review. Students will serve as Editorial and Publicity Assistants for the magazine, studying and practicing all aspects of magazine editing, as well as helping with the journal’s day-to-day operations. The course will also engage students in discussions of contemporary print and digital literary culture, and of the history of literary magazines. Students will be selected in part based on their familiarity with contemporary poetry, fiction, and/or nonfiction, as well as for prior editorial experience. Students should anticipate plenty of work for two credits, as well as an intensive, hands-on, professional experience. Corequisites: Students will be required to attend Wednesday Literature evenings and Poetry at Bennington events.

Prerequisites: Email a statement elaborating on your particular literary interests, listing all previously taken literature courses, and discussing any prior publishing or editorial experience, to mdumanis@bennington.edu by Monday, November 19.
