What students do after-school has become as important as what goes on during the school day. Youth in the public schools in Bennington, Vermont are in need of programs that Bennington College students can create based on their understanding of progressive education and the Plan Process. In this Module, students will be expected to design after-school workshops for K-5 students. Participants will read literature about current structures in the Town of Bennington as well as literacy studies and how to develop curriculum design. Modes of literacy in all different types of areas of study (environmental, food and sustainability, physical activities, story-telling) will be explored. This Module can lead to a 1 credit tutorial if a student’s design for a workshop is accepted by the Southwest Vt. Supervisory Union for an After-School Program.
