Movement Practice: Beginning-Intermediate Dance Technique (DAN2119.01)

Hilary Clark, MFA Teaching Fellow

In this basic intermediate movement class, we will begin with a slow warm up focusing on our natural desire to move, basic anatomical information, imagery and embodiment practices. Using improvisation, simple exercises and choreographed phrase material, we will explore alignment principles, a healthy range of motion, shifts of weight, changes of direction, and dynamic fluctuations of rhythm and energy. By gaining awareness in our bodies, we will improve our ability to move easily and articulately. We will aim for an expansive, expressive, and joyful experience of moving.
