The Center for the Advancement of Public Action at Bennington College has received its second commission from the U.S. State Department’s Office of Art in Embassies for the art collection at the new U.S. Consulate in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
This course is the 2nd half of a year-long experience that began in the spring of 2020. Students who participated in the 1st and 2nd sections are asked to continue to work collectively to develop the design of the art work for the new US consulate in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Students will be asked to take the research developed in 2020 spring term, the complexity graphics produced in the 1st 7 weeks of the Fall term and move this through a process to the design phase. This phase of the public art design process works within a diplomatic context for the U.S. Consulate in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
