PROTOTYPIA [PLAY! -Lab] (APA2305.01)

Divine Bradley, MFA Teaching Fellow

Imagine a seven week course that immerses students [explorers] into a playground of learning experiences. One that allows explorers to embark on weekly journeys to apply their curiosities in school to the world around them. Prototypia is the name of an educational playground that has eight themed portals. Each portal is co-created with the support of faculty, students, local partners such as: businesses, organizations, artists, brands and some of the best assets the community has to offer. This “choose your own adventure” course is designed for students to engage in applied learning experiences on/off campus.

The 8 themes of Prototypia are made up of a spectrum of interrelated subjects. They are based on exploring nature, movement, digital literacy, making and crafting, improvisational performance, emotional intelligence, exhibition spaces, and sustainable development. Each week students can choose from a series of new experiences from our program. This seven week exploration will allow students to choose how they want to learn things, culminating in a showcase of their outputs for the school and community to engage with. Welcome to the Theme park!
