Instrumental Study on Guitar. Continued studies from Beginning Guitar. Advanced study in fret-board harmony and theory.


Learning Outcomes:
A continuation of Beginning guitar
Learning the 7 major scale forms encompassing the neck
A study of each string and what the notes are
Comprehensive rhythm notation studies - one source of info is usually a publication -”Sight To Sound” by Leon White
This leads up to learning sight reading music on the guitar
putting together reading the notes on the staff translating to guitar and playing in real time.
Learning the Blues Scale
Learning the Pentatonic Scale
How to construct chords on the guitar
Sight reading chord charts
Will utilize various instruction manuals depending on class level and direction




Delivery Method: Fully remote
Prerequisites:
An audition is required or successful completion of Beginning Guitar. Auditions will be held May 8-12, 2023, and are by appointment via Zoom, Skype or Facetime. To schedule, email hcox@bennington.edu. Students must have their own guitar.
