Individual private lessons for beginning through advanced students, with focus on classical repertoire, commercial music, and improvisation. Students will meet with the instructor weekly for 30 minutes, or in a small group for 60 minutes, at times to be arranged with the instructor. 30 minutes of practice per day is expected. Two excused absences permitted, with every effort made for make-up lessons. Participation in Tuesday evening music workshop and performance at the end-of-term recital are required.


Learning Outcomes:
Students will:
-perform major and minor scales and arpeggios with college-level proficiency.
-work towards an end of term performance on a piece of their choosing.
-grasp aspects of interpretation with respect to phrasing, dynamics, and tempo.
-consider the role of the audience experience in their approach to performance.
-analyze the harmonic structure of their chosen piece and improvise within that structure.
