Music Composition Project: Acoustic/Electronic (MCO4501.01)

In this course students will compose a substantial work for one solo instrument with electroacoustic accompaniment. Class will meet twice a week and will be team taught. In Tuesday’s session we will review the history of compositions involving acoustic instruments with electronics and there will be technical instruction in the electronic music studio. On Thursdays, we will have further listening sessions, discussion of the student compositions in progress, focusing particularly on the instrumental component and its notation. Compositions will be performed in a culminating concert.

Students must have good notational skills.

Prerequisites: Previous composition study and good notational skills or permission of the instructor.
