This is an electronic music composition intensive class that will focus on performance. Over the course of the class students will be expected to home in on personal electronic music instrument set-ups that can be used live in performance. Throughout the course students will be composing for different ensembles assigned to them – solos, duos, trios. Each week will consist of crits, and student presentations of electronic music practices relevant to student works. We will look at and listen to composer/performers from the 60s avant-garde as well as look at more contemporary music of various genres. We will also consider the history of Performance Art as a possible way to open up the possibilities of performance of electronic music.
