This class explores the rich possibilities of creating digital negatives using Photoshop and printing them on 100% cotton papers using 19th century photographic processes such as Cyanotypes, Van Dyke Browns, and Kallitypes . We will spend time in class preparing optimum negatives using Pictorico inkjet transparency material followed by four weeks of making iron based light sensitive emulsions, and 6 weeks making iron and silver based light sensitive emulsions. In addition to researching contemporary practitioners, students will be expected to create a final portfolio of ten final prints.
