This class provides an overview of foundational feminist and queer theory texts. We will focus on psychoanalytic, Marxist, and women of color feminist thought. We will also examine the influence of poststructuralism on feminism and the emergence of queer theory in the 1990s. We will juxtapose foundational texts in queer theory with queer of color critique. We will conclude with recent works in transgender studies.
