In this seminar, we will explore the processes of gender identity development in childhood and adolescence. We will examine gender identity development among gender conforming (cisgender) and transgender children and young adults. In addition, we will review research on the determinant of sexual orientation and the psychological processes influencing sexual desire and romantic love. Attention will be given to the historical and cultural processes that construct gender and sexual categories.
