Everything Class (DAN2003.02)

Mina Nishimura

What if a water bottle were a teacher waiting for you in a classroom? What kind of class would the water bottle be offering—-Sonic Meditation, Daily Beverage Curatorial Practice, Aquatic Ecology Research, Subconsciousness Activation, Invisible Color Therapy, Liquid Song Writing, Performance Score Composition for a Water Body, Taste-initiated Somatic Practice, Method of Interviewing Microorganisms etc.?

Participants will be asked to design a class as an instant performance project for other participants in the weekly session. The group will be divided into sections, each one with a different leader.

This class/practice will be centered on using a specific object, site or event, which is closely connected to each person’s daily life. We will watch art practices emerge out of our personal spaces and blur the boundary between personal practice and collective learning.

Learning Outcomes:
-Discover and understand the potential overlaps between everyday life and art making
-Be able to design, embody and share one’s own art practice with others
-Expand an understanding of choreographic practice
