A Celebration Service: Folk Dance and Processional (DAN4170.02)

Levi Gonzalez

This will be an integral part of the performance of Meredith Monk’s A Celebration Service which will be staged by Tom Bogdan and performed on May 5-7, 2023. The work interweaves song, dance and chants in a celebration of community and a search for meaning and connection through ritual. This 7-week course will focus on the movement aspects of the work and is appropriate for students interested in integrating dance and movement into this larger performance work. Both set and improvised material will be used.

Please note that students will be required to attend additional technical rehearsals during the week prior to the performances. Consult the instructor for further information.
