Technology Pathway and Independent Study is designed to accommodate students independent projects and ideas to help them with their FWT and their senior projects.
This is a course designated for study and research in an area of software engineering, data science, AI and technology product development. This course may be repeated each semester.
Professional Values and Competencies Though independent studies vary in activities, responsibilities, and scope, students should complete the independent study with most of the following competencies:
1. Demonstrate an understanding of required technologies and tools in the proposed areas listed above.
2. Demonstrate an understanding of technical requirements for the work and project
3. Understand concepts and apply theories in the use and presentation of materials and codes
4. Demonstrate an understanding of professional ethical principles and work ethically in pursuit of truth, accuracy, fairness and diversity;
5. Think critically, creatively and independently;
6. Conduct research and evaluate information by methods appropriate to the communication professions in which they work;
7. Write correctly and clearly in forms and styles appropriate for the communication professions, audiences and purposes they serve;
8. Critically evaluate their own work and that of others for accuracy and fairness, clarity, appropriate style and grammatical correctness;
9. Apply tools and technologies appropriate for the communication professions in which they work.

Prerequisites: Students need to have the basic knowledge on the topic that they want to pursue and should consult with their advisors prior to contacting the faculty (meltemballan@bennington.edu) for registration.
Corequisites: Basic programming,or basic data science, or product management
