Advanced Projects in Dance (DAN4795.01) (new faculty as of 7/11/2023)

Dana Reitz

For students with prior experience in dance composition who wish to be involved in making new work for performance or writing project. Taking into account variety of circumstances in the field development, we will consider an expanded notion of how work can be shared with the public. Attention will be given to all of the elements involved in composition and production, including collaborative aspects. Students are expected to show their work throughout stages of development, complete their projects, and share them formally or informally by the end of the term. In order to deepen our ability to reflect on and articulate our own artistic process and create robust rigorous critical thinking around performance in general we will explore multiple methods of critique.

Learning Outcomes:
• Building a robust, disciplined, and rigorous artistic practice
• Augmenting problem-solving and problem-finding skills
