Dance Workshop has been held at Bennington College since its beginning in 1932. It is a meeting place for all dance students, dance faculty, and staff. Here, students of all levels, undergraduate through graduate, show and discuss works in progress. All of the participants practice articulating and refining their own processes, and all are involved in learning how to see and discuss the work of others. Dance Workshop is also a place for announcements, community improvisation sessions, guest showings, panel discussions, and multiple conversations.
For the 2nd 7-week session, Dance Workshop is also available as a 1-credit course supervised by Levi Gonzalez. For those choosing to take this for credit, students will participate in discussion and create responses through written journals and movement studies, contributing to the overall design of the workshop itself. An additional meeting time outside of Dance Workshop will be arranged in order to meet, discuss and share our work.
