Typography for Artists and Designers (PRI4213.02)

Thorsten Dennerline

In this intermediate-advanced level course, we will study Typographic design and its application to making visual art. We will learn design fundamentals, some history, and use this knowledge to produce unusual art works.

If this course can be taught in person, it will take place in The Word & Image Lab, Letterpress studio. If we cannot meet in person, this course will take place on line using inDesign and Illustrator.

Students taking either version will learn about typographic design and letterforms, and most importantly, how they can influence content. Complexity and refinement are themes that emerge easily but we will also experiment and play.
