Up/Side/Down: Drawing = Movement (DRW2164.02)

J Blackwell & Elena Demyanenko

This is a practice for participants of any discipline who are interested in exploring the intersections between movement and drawing. We invite you to join us in an experiment. We want to consider/reconsider/resist/undermine/overwhelm/explode the question of how to make work under uncertain circumstances. These explorations will take the form of happenings. Happenings depend upon uncertain circumstances.

Students will create scores (images and/or movement) which will be activated by the faculty for presentation and critique. This role-reversal is intended to offer students an alternative perspective on artistic decision-making.  Through repetition and accumulation we hope to build a series of short pieces that can be layered on top of each other.

Note: this course is also offered as a 4000-level. Please see prerequisites for additional details.
